It’s 2017. Technology continues to evolve yet we regress in the way we communicate and express ourselves. Users are still posting status updates or creating stories that expire in 24 hours. With Storyline, we are helping users save and share their memories using technology. So what does that mean?
When we communicate and express ourselves, we rely on audio, visual cues, body language, vocal inflections. None of which can be captured by text, static status updates, or a keyboard.
With Storyline, we want to help users express themselves through different digital mediums that can be stored and shared forever.
A storyline is a collection of moments connected by a subject that creates a narrative.
A moment is a life memory captured by photo, video, or audio clip on Storyline.
A story is a compilation of audio, photo, and video moments.
Audio, photo, and video moments are played consecutively by their published date and time. Photo’s are automatically displayed for five seconds, while audio and videos moment's are played for their recorded duration. Stories are a great way to follow others and log your own life events.
We ask for your phone number because that is how we securely validate your device and associate it with your Storyline account.
Storyline offers you the option to change the verified phone number in Storyline from within the mobile application.
Storyline is released in phases, with new features being released on a regular basis. This allows us to test Storyline, obtain user feedback, and improve.
During our Beta phase, you may encounter bugs. New features will continue to be updated. Things that worked one particular way yesterday may work differently today. Nonetheless, you become part of an immersive experience that ultimately tailors the product to your needs.
Storyline is still in Beta. We are currently focused on building value and growing the Storyline community.
In the future, Storyline will introduce monetization features to financially support the operating costs of overall business. However, our primary focus is and will always be to drive value for our users.
Storyline is a (forced) ad-free network. As with every other user, businesses are welcome on Storyline and can share content at-will.
Additionally, you are in control of all of the content that you select to view and are free to follow or unfollow any user on the Storyline network. We will never promote paid posts or include ads in your feed or stories.
You are in complete control of the content you want to view or who you choose to communicate with.
Storyline is a community that is built by the community. We take pride in your security and overall experience. Ultimately to ensure that Storyline is fun, rewarding, and creates value for everyone in the Storyline community.
We love Android too.
However; developing a new app is an enormous amount of work. Especially for a small team and new startup such as ours.
So before we start on development for other platforms, we want to ensure that our iOS experience meets your expectations.
The basic principle here is that building a plethora of apps in parallel is not efficient. The only way to tell what works is to finish one, learn what works, what doesn’t, make it right, then make the other.
Please know that other ecosystems such as Android are an important part of our future and we are diligently working to get that in your hands as soon as possible.
We’d love to hear from you! You can always reach us at email@example.com.
Phone-based authentication involves sending a one-time password (OTP) to a user over a separate communication channel (SMS or voice) than the IP channel (internet) used by the application, providing security in case the IP channel is compromised. Only the owner of that phone number gets access to the password and is able to log in to the application and verify their identity with a PIN code. The single-use password expire within a few minutes for added security, preventing scammers from collecting old PIN codes and using them later en masse to create fraudulent signups.
HTTPS is the use of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) or Transport Layer Security (TLS) as a sublayer under regular HTTP application layering. HTTPS layer encrypts and decrypts user requests and responses (data transmission) returned by the server, thereby making your data secure and protecting it against eavesdropping. Storyline uses HTTPS to protect authenticity and keep all user communications, identity, and usage private.
OAUTH2 is an authorization framework that enables applications to obtain limited access to user accounts on an HTTP service, such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. It works by delegating user authentication to the service that hosts the user account, and authorizing third-party applications to access the user account. OAUTH2 utilizes temporary access tokens to achieve this which prevents hackers from gaining access to any permanent keys or passwords. Storyline uses OAUTH2 as an authentication method option (for login, sharing, etc.) to prevent unauthorized users from accessing a user account.
With Storyline, you control the privacy and distribution of your content including the ability to delete any moment or story (which are removed from Storyline servers). Overall, Storyline allows you the flexibility of managing your content broadly across the platform to protect your privacy.
NOTE: Unlike many other companies, Storyline does not post or sell any ads. We also do not sell or release any of our user information to any third-parties. We are extremely protective of the security and privacy of our users.
